Well, now that I’m sending out applications for positions again, I’m trying to give my portfolio a complete overhaul in hopes that it will help give me a boost. Joe and I are actually going to try using WordPress for the basis of it. Hopefully this will allow me to have an easier time working with it and, on that same note, will allow me to feel like it’s even the slightest bit important to even have the thing. That’s one of the worse things about trying to be a highly qualified teacher in this state: a lot of what you do has no direct link with teaching, making you feel as though it’s worthless.
WordPress is a good idea for the portfolio! Hmmm. :)
Joe could hook you up with the space for one if you want. He and his cousin are trying to establish a web business (http://www.wayfartech.com/). I’m using the following for mine:
Basic Blog Package – $30/year
WordPress Blog
1GB of space
Setup and first month support
Includes: 1 domain, 3 emails, 1 ftp account
Upload own templates (Customized templates extra)
There are other options on the site that you can browse through too, depending on what you want for space. If you have any question about it, feel free to pester Joe. His e-mail’s joe[at]thatraymond.com.
I’ve been having a lot of luck with mine. :-) Some things are a bit tricky, having to work with the html codes and all, but that’s only because I’m wicked picky about how things are looking.
