Another passion…

So I downloaded a 60 page book from Lion Brand Yarn entitled “Learn to Knit.” I feel I have a strong grasp on both the knit stitch and the purl stitch. However, I’m having a hard time keeping up the same tension throughout, thus I have decided I’m going to work on making a scarf. I’ll probably just make it a single color, most likely the white I have kicking around. If it comes out really well, I might put it up on Etsy…or give it away as a gift. I like the gift idea. I actually have someone in mind…but I can’t garuntee it’ll be done by the end of the winter, since I’m currently working on two different blankets as well.

I haven’t sold anything on Etsy yet. I did purchase some yarn, though, which gave me a positive feedback rating. I’m thinking I might package up some of the seed beads I have and sell them. I don’t have any use for them and it would be nice to trim down what I don’t use. Plus, this will give me the opprotunity to get more feedback, which always looks good.

It looks like I might have a chance to work on all the crafts I want tomorrow! Who knows. The last time we had a Noreaster come in I got two days off, which is alright except it does some damage to the paycheck.

Well, I’m off to make the bed!

The Lion Brand ebook is pretty good. I’d also recommend “Big Book of Knitting” by Katharina Buss. You can get it through URSUS at Fogler. The pictures are great.

Knitting a scarf is a good way to practice tension consistency. I have no problem with tension now as I knit nothing but straight up garter stitch for about 6 years (from ages 6-12) and then I began learning the other techniques. Also, consider a fulling (otherwise known as felting) project that you can knit in the round. You’d get the practice and when done, no one would know about the mistakes because the stitches blend together! Think about it. If you have any questions, let me know!

Oh, PS, I have every intention of buying the Cosmo set. I spent my allowance this month and I have to wait until February for any more personal purchases.

I haven’t had the chance to check out the Katharina Buss book…yet. ^_^ I’m really looking forward to it, though.

Felting sounds like it would be a good idea to try sooner than later. It took me over two hours just to figure out how to flex between the knit and purl stitch. Hopefully I’ll have the hang of it by the time I’m done this scarf.

Oh! I’m so excited about you buying that set! I’ll get it all set up to go so you won’t have to wait once you get the funds!
